Description

This workshop applies the tenets of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (particularly the modules of Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation and Distress Tolerance), in combination with Awareness through Movement (ATM Feldenkrais lessons), and Expressive Arts Therapy as paths to Mindfulness. It advances a theoretical and applied model for a comprehensive treatment of patients with psychiatric or medical conditions addressing mind-body interactions and brain neuroplasticity. The workshop will involve a combination of theoretical and evidence based instruction, as well as brief ATM lessons enhancing mind-body awareness and Expressive Arts therapy. No experience, ability, or talent are required for either Feldenkrais or Expressive Arts.

Teachings are appropriate for health care professionals and the general public. Some experience in Mindfulness or DBT would be helpful but not necessary. Health care professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to clients or patients.
